Quad ES9039SPRO Flagship DAC Chips
Precision Hi-Res Decoding With Advanced Digital Filtering
At the heart of the Gustard X30 lies a quad array of ESS’s flagship ES9039SPRO DAC chips. Each channel is powered by two DACs in a fully balanced configuration, ensuring exceptional linearity and channel separation. Signal processing is further refined by a multi-stage digital filtering system built on Analog Devices’ high-performance SHARC DSP platform. This includes advanced anti-aliasing noise algorithms, high-precision 64-bit floating-point operations, frequency upscaling, and noise shaping—delivering an exceptionally clean and natural sound.
The Gustard X30 supports PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz, DSD512, and full MQA decoding, making it future-proof for all modern high-resolution audio formats. An I/V conversion stage and parallel connection circuitry ensure a seamless transition from digital to analogue voltage,
K2 Synthesizer With DSP Filtering & Network Streaming
The Gustard X30 employs a high-precision K2 synthesizer paired with a local OCXO clock, or an external 10M clock, to deliver an exceptionally clean and accurate clock signal for hi-res audio decoding. By discarding the front-end clock, the X30 minimizes reliance on upstream equipment, ensuring decoding performance remains unaffected. Its DSP platform offers four DSD and three PCM digital filters, alongside a NOS mode, allowing a pure signal path with independent left and right channel processing for enhanced musicality. On the streaming side, the X30 integrates seamlessly with Roon Bridge, AirPlay, UPnP, NAA, and bridge mode, making it a versatile centerpiece for both local and networked playback.
Supported By Celaudio For Redefining The Audio Output Of The X30
The Gustard X30 integrates Celaudio, an advanced audio processing technology designed to reduce distortion introduced by hardware limitations and restore sound to its most natural form. Celaudio intelligently disables unnecessary bridge systems during playback, optimising system resources and maximising playback efficiency. At its core lies the Celware 3.x music playback system, a Linux-based platform purpose-built for high-fidelity audio. By combining hardware and software optimisations, this system minimises data forwarding delays and jitter, while enhancing playback stability and resolution. The result is a seamless listening experience that brings out the full potential of high-resolution audio.
Passive Analog Preamp Stage with Independent Voltage Stabilisation
The Gustard X30 features a passive analogue preamp stage that employs an R2R relay-based volume control, ensuring precise adjustment without compromising sonic integrity. For users who prefer to bypass the preamp, the X30 offers a direct output option, making it highly versatile for integration with active studio monitors or dedicated power amplifiers. Volume can be conveniently managed via the supplied remote control, allowing for seamless operation.
To further elevate performance, Gustard has implemented an independent voltage stabilisation stage designed to minimise interference and preserve signal purity. This is complemented by a fully isolated power supply with dedicated grounding, delivering exceptionally clean audio reproduction with minimal distortion—hallmarks of the X30’s commitment to high-fidelity playback
Group Independent Power Supply With Toroidal Transformers
The Gustard X30 employs the ES9311Q regulator alongside a multi-group, independent power supply design to deliver ultra-low noise regulation and ensure a stable, clean energy source for every circuit. This approach minimises interference and preserves audio purity. Further enhancing performance, the unit is equipped with two high-quality toroidal transformers dedicated separately to the digital and analogue stages, ensuring each section receives uncompromised, interference-free power for optimal sonic results
Low latency XMOS XU216 and an FPGA programmable logic chip
Discrete Class A Audio Circuit With IV Parallel Connections For Enhanced Performance
At the heart of the Gustard X30 lies a discrete Class A analogue LPF stage, purpose-built for the ESS flagship DAC chips. Unlike conventional integrated circuits, this design employs multiple IV parallel connections, offering greater flexibility and fine-tuned adjustment across varying parameter levels. A built-in OCXO constant-temperature crystal oscillator ensures rock-solid stability by minimising frequency drift caused by external temperature fluctuations. This high-performance architecture not only controls distortion with precision but also enables alternative decoding pathways, giving the X30 remarkable versatility in shaping sonic character while elevating overall performance.
Designed for true music lovers, the Gustard X30 delivers lifelike, high-resolution audio with ultra-low latency. Powered by the XMOS XU216 and FPGA system, it ensures smooth, distortion-free playback. With versatile connections including USB, LAN, coaxial, optical, AES, XLR, and RCA outputs, the X30 integrates effortlessly into any setup, offering immersive sound and flexible connectivity for every listening experience.
